Weaving Community
Through Mutual Aid,
Peer Support & Care
Common Threads Coalition is a community-rooted resilience network — a volunteer-driven system connecting neighbors who need help with those who can give it, built from the inside out through lived experience and collective care.
A Failsafe
for Our Community
Common Threads Coalition is a community-rooted failsafe — a living response network to social entropy and systemic breakdown. Our mission is to weave together mutual aid, peer support, and resource coordination so that when institutional systems are strained or inaccessible, communities can meet their own needs with dignity and solidarity.
Built from the inside out — emerging directly from community relationships and lived experience.
We are not a government program. We are not a crisis center. We are neighbors taking collective responsibility for one another.
Our philosophy integrates the most effective principles from peer-led recovery, trauma-informed care, and community organizing:
Mutual respect over hierarchyShared humanity, not diagnosis or status, is the foundation of every interaction.
Self-determination as wellnessPeople know their own needs. Our role is to walk alongside, not direct.
Presence over controlIn moments of distress, showing up matters more than having answers.
Collective care as civic responsibilityThis isn’t a specialist’s job. It belongs to all of us.
Programs & Services
We are building a layered ecosystem of community care — starting with what’s needed right now and growing into a sustainable, replicable model.
Mutual Aid & Resource Coordination
Connecting neighbors who need help with those who can give it — food, winter gear, essentials, transportation, time, and skills.
Peer Support
Voluntary, non-clinical companionship and support — crisis doesn’t stop at 5 PM. We train peer volunteers to walk with people where they are.
Resource Hub
A living, community-maintained directory of local resources, services, and supports — so no one spends hours searching for what they need.
Housing & Tenant Support
Working alongside the Amesbury Tenants Union to support renters facing instability, displacement, or unsafe conditions.
Community Learning Spaces
Skill-shares, workshops, and peer training — growing local capacity so our community can care for itself sustainably.
Network Building
Connecting with and supporting existing organizations and efforts across Amesbury and Essex County. We don’t duplicate — we fill gaps and strengthen what’s already here.
We Ask Before
We Assume
We will not build programs based on assumptions. Our multi-phase needs assessment ensures every program we launch responds to what Amesbury actually needs — gathered through listening, relationship-building, and data.
Listening & Relationships
Open forums, one-on-one outreach, stakeholder engagement with local agencies, schools, and businesses.
Data Collection
Interviews, surveys, focus groups. Mapping resource deserts and mutual aid opportunities across Amesbury.
Analysis & Planning
Public review of findings. Program blueprint drafted from documented community priorities.
Implementation
Launch programs based on documented need, with feedback mechanisms and grant-aligned reporting.
